Winds of the Mountain Empire, a 60-member professional wind ensemble made up of outstanding musicians and music educators from the region, invites the community to a winter concert on Saturday, December 20th at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Union High School.
Now in its nineteenth season, the ensemble presents Sounds of the Season. As the days grow colder and the holiday season begins to surround us, Winds of the Mountain Empire invites you to an evening filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful connection. This year's winter concert will feature beloved holiday favorites and the magic of live music. They are delighted to welcome Michael McNulty, Executive Director of the Pro-Art Association and UVA Wise Professor of Theater, as their featured narrator.
This year, the ensemble has a chance to extend the spirit of the season to those who need it most. Many families in our region are facing difficult circumstances. By bringing a non-perishable food item or making a monetary donation to Family Crisis Support Services, you can help ensure that a neighbor experiences care and support during the holidays. Even a single item can make a real difference, and together our kindness can brighten many lives.
Come enjoy music that lifts the heart, while your generosity lifts the hearts of others. Winds of the Mountain Empire looks forward to sharing this evening with you and celebrating both the joy of the season and the compassion of our community.
Founded in 2006 by Dr. Donald Sorah, the Winds of the Mountain Empire unites musicians each summer from across southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee, and southeast Kentucky for a weekend of professional development, fellowship, and performance.
Admission is free, and all are welcome.
