Bids for Striping on Various Roads

The Town of Wise, Virginia is accepting sealed bids from qualified vendors for striping of various roads.  The successful bidder must furnish all equipment, labor and materials to mark streets as directed by the Town.  All pavement markings shall be installed in accordance with the latest standards for permanent marking as specified in the Virginia Department of Transportation Handbook on Road & Bridge Specifications.  The Town plans to mark approximately 114,000 LF with yellow paint and 108,360 LF with white paint.  In addition, bidders are requested to include pricing for marking of turn arrows, stop bars, cross walks, words, and parking spaces.  Also in addition, bidders are requested to include pricing for repainting the current “V” s on the roads.  The Town may elect to award a contract for all of the “Additive Bid Items”, some of the “Additive Bid Items”, or none of the “Additive Bid Items”.  Anyone interested in viewing the job sites may schedule an appointment by phoning the Town of Wise Street Department Superintendent at (276)328-6119. 

 

No marking of any street in the town shall take place until the paving contractor has completed all of his work.  Upon paving contractor completion of all asphalt overlays, pavement marking shall commence within 72 hours of a notice to proceed or as soon thereafter as weather permits.  All pavement striping must be completed by June 30, 2026. 

 

Bids will be publicly opened on Wednesday March 18, 2026 at 10:00 am in Council Chambers of the Wise Municipal Building at 501 West Main Street, Wise, Virginia 24293.  All bids must be submitted on official bid forms and addressed to Laura C. Roberts, Town Manager, P. O. Box 1100, 501 W. Main St., Wise, VA 24293.  Envelopes must be sealed and marked “BID FOR FY26 PAVEMENT STRIPING”.  Faxed bids will not be accepted.  The Town of Wise reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities if it appears in the best interests of the Town to do so.

 

MBE/WBE/SBE firms are encouraged to submit bids.  Bidders must comply with the following:  President’s Executive Order 11246 prohibiting discrimination in employment regarding race, color, creed, sex, or national origin; President’s Executive Orders 12138 and 11625 regarding utilization of MBE/WBE firms; and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  The Town of Wise in accordance with the provisions of Title VI of the civil Rights Act of 1964 (78 Stat.252, 42 US.C.
