Police Department

The Wise Police Department (WPD) has thirteen sworn officers and one civilian clerical position. The mission of the WPD is to preserve the peace and maintain order, protect people and property, prevent crime, and promote traffic safety. The Department offers training to the business community on loss prevention techniques and fraud schemes and routinely patrols commercial areas insuring that all facilities are secured. Services to the public include firearms training, crime prevention programs, instruction in proper use of vehicle restraint devices and child safety seats, bicycle safety rodeos, vacant house checks for those out of town, alcohol and drug abuse awareness seminars, and personal safety training.

The Department is proud to sponsor a Public Safety Cadet Unit 312, a national nonprofit organization established to mentor youth (Cadets), ages 14-20, to serve their communities by providing knowledge, skills, and practical experiences through education and training delivered by public safety professionals (Mentors) that build character, physical fitness and respect for the rule of law and human and civil rights.
